Good Samaritans have volunteered to help the woman seeking Sh2.5 million for brain tumour surgery.
Amref and a neurosurgeon based at Aga Khan University Hospital, Nairobi, came to the aid of Doris Mwangala after the Star highlighted her story on October 20.

Mwangala, a widow with seven children, was airlifted from Malindi to Nairobi on Tuesday and taken to the Aga Khan University Hospital where she was booked in the ICU.
“We received a call about Mwangala three days ago and intervened as doctors in Malindi could not handle the case,” Joseph Lelo, Amref Flying Doctors chief medical officer, said on Tuesday.
He said the neurosurgeon Dr Kuresh has offered to do the operation free of charge.
Ibrahim Geno, Mwangala’s relative, said: “We thank the media for publicising the story which enabled her to get help.”
