“The highlight will be the new mathematics lab that is planned. It will be one of the first such facilities in a city school. A professor from Aga Khan University is helping us out.
– M.P. Shajee, School Principal
For the past two months, the teachers of the Government Model Boys Higher Secondary School in Thycaud, have been staying back till 9 p.m., on a voluntary basis, in a last-ditch effort to inspire the academically weak students of Std. X and Std. XII before the annual examinations. With immense support also from the parents, they believe there will be a turnaround when the results are announced.
This was not a one-off effort, but part of the positive energy visible in every aspect of the functioning of the more than a century-old school. In January, a few of the school’s alumni got together to launch ‘Mission Model School 21 C’, a wide-ranging project to transform the school to meet the challenges of the 21st century, in partnership with the government. The State government gave clearance for the first phase of the project earlier this week.
