Fenulla Jiwani has won the 2014 Cayle Chernin Award for her short film Nobody.
The award was presented to Jiwani on Thursday evening during a ceremony at the Carlton Cinemas in Toronto. The annual Cayle Chernin Award acknowledges the work of a woman who is emerging or transitioning to the field of media arts or threatre. The prize includes a $1,000 cash prize, with this year’s winner also receiving a $1,000 equipment grant from William F. White International.
Jiwani’s short Nobody tells the story of a North American Muslim woman named Mahina. While on the way to her engagement party, Mahina meets a homeless woman who changes her life.
