Geographical focus and chronological period are open. Academic specialization can be in any discipline in the humanities, including history, as well as the humanistic dimensions of anthropology and sociology. The Visiting Professor will be required to teach one course per semester, deliver a public lecture, and participate in the intellectual life of Brown University in general and Middle East Studies in particular.
As a significant new university initiative, Middle East Studies at Brown seeks to make knowledge production on the Middle East an integral part of intellectual life at Brown University by creating partnerships across areas and disciplines. We especially welcome candidates who thrive in an interdisciplinary environment and who employ a range of methodologies in their research and teaching.
