Amyn Pirani, Rahim Merchant and Aziz Nathani of Chicago will be receiving the Awards for their selfless services to the community and humanity in general. State of Illinois recognizes individuals who have a substantial positive effect on the livelihood and renown of their respective communities in which they live.
- Mr. Amyn Pirani a resident of Lake in the Hills, Illinois will be receiving Entrepreneurship Award.
- Mr. Rahim Merchant receives Award for his life long community services.
- Mr. Aziz Nathani receives Pan Asian American Award for his selfless community service.
Bio
Mr. Amyn Pirani is an entrepreneur whose efforts have contributed to the community in expertise, monetary and overall support. Mr. Amyn Pirani came to the United States of America in 1984.
His first occupation once he arrived in Chicago was in hotel service. He worked as a waiter at the Chicago Hilton & Towers and worked his way up.
After marriage in early 90s, he then moved to Rockford, IL and opened up a Donut Shop after saving some from his first job.
He then received the opportunity to own a Gas Station and since than he has been doing so for almost last 20 years.
After gaining more experience from the workforce and the changing business world, he had another opportunity to become a Franchiser of a Chicago based fast food chain called Gold Coast Dogs.
Not only have he been experienced in the workforce, he has been an active leader in the Ismaili American community by performing tasks and showing leadership amongst his fellow volunteers.

Mr. Rahim Merchant receives Award for his life long community services.
Mr. Merchant hailed from Pakistan to Chicago, Illinois in 1973. He has since established himself as an accomplished entrepreneur and a respected and contributing member of the south Asian community in Chicago.
Rahim’s first business venture was purchasing a fresh produce and grocery store in 1984 with his business partner in Chicago’s West Town neighborhood. Rahim and his partner expanded this store and their offerings and worked hard to develop their committed neighborhood customer base.
Having decided to undertake a new challenge, in 1994, Rahim and his business partner became Dunkin’ Donuts franchisees and with the addition of a third partner, entered into their current business of running Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants. Over time, Rahim and his partners have grown their business by adding Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants to their network and by supplying donuts to other franchisees. Rahim’s experience has been that hard work and focus on delivering the highest level of customer service have been the keys to his and his partners’ success.
In addition to being a successful businessman, Rahim is a husband and the father of two children whose love and support has been instrumental in his success. Outside of work, Rahim is known for his volunteerism within the Asian American community. Rahim served for four years as the chair of the religious education Parent’s Committee which supports the weekly functioning of religious education classes for the Ismaili Muslim youth. Rahim lead a team of 15-20 parents in ensuring that the operational needs of the education center were met so that teachers could focus on their work in the classroom. Rahim has been actively involved with raising funds for various charitable causes supported by the local community in Chicago for over 9 years. In addition to these formal roles, Rahim regularly offers his assistance to those in need and is seen by members of the community as an approachable and dependable individual.

Mr. Aziz Nathani receives Pan Asian American Award for his selfless community service.
Mr. Nathani is always ready and eager to work for himself, Aziz Nathani began his entrepreneurial career at the age of 20. After earning his undergraduate degree from DePaul University, a great coach pointed him in a successful direction. 11 years ago,
Mr. Nathani began his career as a Dunkin Donuts/Baskin Robbins Franchisee. Shortly, after successfully running his first few locations, he began his expansion throughout the Chicagoland Northshore area. During his booming expansion, Mr. Nathani won many Regional and National awards that recognized him and his team for their accomplishments and achievements. Mr. Nathani, utilizing his key strengths and expertise, sits on both the Regional and National Marketing Committees where the team makes valuable marketing decisions on behalf of the Dunkin Franchisees.
Moreover, while being a victorious entrepreneur, Mr. Nathani continues to practice his passion for helping others by holding numerous leadership voluntary positions in areas like the AKF Partnership Walk and serving as the Principal for the Community Religious Education Center. Mr. Nathani, known for his bright white smile, loves to spend time with his wife and his 2 year old son, watch movies, and socialize.
