Jim Al-Khalili travels through Syria, Iran, Tunisia and Spain to tell the story of the great leap in scientific knowledge that took place in the Islamic world between the 8th and 14th centuries
Couple of points to keep in mind:
One of these episodes shows Dr Nader El-Bizri of Institute of Ismaili Studies and another one takes the audience to the Alamut fortress.
The first and second parts are interesting but basic in nature for those who know their Islamic history. The third part is a culmination of professor Jim al-Khalili’s research and has significant points to ponder. Overall, the series is a good watch for students and it could also be helpful for inter-faith dialog.
