KARACHI: The Aga Khan University will mark the World Blood Donor Day today, Saturday, June 13.
A statement on Friday said that the theme of the occasion will be: ‘Give blood, save life’. It said that the speakers will be Dr Bushra Moiz, Consultant Hematologist, Aga Khan University Hospital, Hashim Hanif, Head of Blood Bank, Falah Organisation, and Anwar Ajanee, Chairman of the Lions Club.
The statement pointed out that in Pakistan, only 25% of blood donations are voluntary and it is estimated that for Karachi’s population of approximately 16 million, the annual blood requirement is around 360,000 bags per year.
