The World Mountain People Association is a French International Association of the French elected representatives of the National Assembly, who represents the various mountain region of France.
The WMPA was also one of the important protagonist and partner with UNO to organize the International Year of the Mountains Development in the city of Beshkek in Kyrgistan in 2002, where Mawlana Hazir was chief guest with an important delegation of the Aga Khan Foundation.
Mr Jean Lassalle the president of WMPA, who is a well known member of the French National Assembly had organized a conference on 28/01 with a launch in French National Assembly. The participants were others members of the National Assembly and representatives of Mountain Development Association from Europe, such as the Programmes of Agronomy and veternary, without frontiers, and the International Association for Urban Development, a well known professor of the university of Bordeau for anthropology, for the mountain population and also well known doctor.
Mr Klaus Klipp the Secretary General of ARE (L’Assemblée des Regions d’Europe) and President of WMPA Mr Lassale expressed their deep interest about the Northern Areas of Pakistan particularly in Hunza and also expressed their desire to extend the activities of WMPA with the coordination of the Aga Khan Development Network, which has been proven as a catalyst to improve the quality of life of people in the mountainous region of the Northern Areas of Pakistan, and would like to have a similar contact through AKDN in the mountainous region of the Central Asia.
