  1. PRESERVATION AND PROGRESS – A TRIBUTE TO SHAH KARIM

    O Shah Karim al-Husayni
The bearer of the light of Allah
The same light carried by Hazrat Ali

You claimed the throne of Imamat fifty years ago
And ever since you have worked tirelessly
For the uplift of the Ismaili jamat

And for the rest of the world
No matter what colour race or creed
    You helped them too

You continued your dearest grandfather’s work
Building schools and hospitals for the needy
    And other educational institutions

A tradition that goes back a thousand years
To the golden age of the Fatimid Period
That tradition of learning being kept alive

You provided the poorest with a chance in life
    You ignited that spark
    And gave them hope

    The AKDN is the embodiment
Of that work of the Imamat
Focussing on long term, sustainable solutions

Encompassing health, education and economic development
Housing and finance and Rural support programmes
Architectural initiatives and restoration, art and culture

You have left no stone unturned
    Progress without compromise
    Technology at its best

    Teach a man to fish
Rather than giving him a fish
    That is your motto

    The preservation of Allah’s creation
Has always been close to your heart
    This beautiful blue planet

    Presidents and prime ministers
Leaders in all walks of life
    Hold you in high esteem

To the masses you have reached out to
They too cannot thank you enough
Ismailis globally shower you with their love

Your mandate as the Imam of the Time
Is to interpret the faith to the community of followers
To improve the quality of their lives and their security

To help them fulfil their potential
And through the imam- murid relationship
Guide them to spiritual enlightenment and vision
