Kikwete praises role of investor meetings

The International Investors Round Table (IIRT) and its local chapter are important fora for enhancing the growth of the private sector and strengthening the business environment in the country, President Jakaya Kikwete has said.
Addressing the 6th International Investors Round Table (IIRT) meeting in Arusha last week, President Kikwete noted that the organisation, which provides a platform for the public-private sectors dialogue, is critical for the promotion of business and investment in the country.
He said IIRT also offered a forum for foreign investors to meet with government officials.
Many important issues are discussed and problems solved through this forum. The IIRT brings together a group of distinguished business leaders interested in fostering increased private investment and economic growth in Tanzania,” he noted

The International Investors’ Round Table (IIRT) is an initiative of former Tanzanian president Benjamin Mkapa, and has been supplementing government efforts in wooing investors to Tanzania.
Also present at the function was Prince Karim Aga Khan, who has become an influential figure in investors’ fora in Tanzania.
