Reference the subject under discussion, I share ‘ChitralNews’ concerns
and also trust Hassan Abbas’ good intention.
Nonetheless, I would like to comment on Hassan Abbas’ sentence
“Ismaili Shiite…are anti-al-Qaeda to their core for sectarian
reasons’, which Khalid Hasan has quoted in verbatim. Ismailis are
anti-al-Qaeda not because of sectarian reason. They respect all
sects, whatever their beliefs and interpretations and they respect all
people regardless of their ethnicity, language, and cultures.
Ismailis believe in peace and harmony, in human progress in all its
forms, they actively engage in activities that can promote peace,
contribute to human prosperity, and alleviate human misery whether
that is due to poverty, diseases or man made and natural disasters.
This is not accidental. It is a result of continuous guidance and
inculcation of human values that reflect the Ismaili character around
the world. In whatever part of the world Ismailis live, they all
share these values and live by them.
This is so because all Ismaili Muslims relate to the same religious
authority, the Ismaili Imamat, and receive same guidance from their
spiritual leader, the Imam, who is His Highness the Aga Khan.
Ismailis are anti-al-Qaeda because they do not believe in violence, in
destruction, in killing innocent human beings, and in terrorism.
