Dr Naheed Dosani, Palliative Care Physician and Associate Professor at the University of Toronto Department of Family and Community Medicine, was awarded the King Charles III’s Coronation Medal for his contribution to the community and the region.

Dr Dosani is also the founder of the Palliative Education and Care for the Homeless (PEACH) Program at the Inner City Health Associates in downtown Toronto, serving as the Medical Director of Kensington Hospice (Kensington Health), a Health Equity Expert Advisor at the Canadian Partnership Against Cancer and as a palliative care physician at St. Michael’s Hospital (Unity Health Toronto).
“I never imagined that providing palliative care in shelters, respites and drop-ins… or out on the street… would lead to this moment. This week, I received the King Charles III Coronation Medal… awarded to Canadians whose work strengthens their communities and country.
It’s a profound honour… not because of the medal or the recognition, but because it reflects a growing awareness that everyone deserves dignity at the end of life… including people experiencing homelessness. This recognition is not just mine. It belongs to the people who accepted me into their lives in their final days. To the teams who show up with compassion every single day. To the communities who continue to teach us what care, love, and justice really look like.
Thank you to Senator Kim Pate for this honour… and to everyone who walks this journey with me. This medal carries many names and many stories.”
