AKU’s Board Chair, Zakir Mahmood opened his address by expressing the profound sense of loss felt with the passing of His Highness the Aga Khan IV, AKU’s visionary Founder. Reflecting on His Highness’ unwavering belief in progress and his faith in Pakistan, Mahmood highlighted the transformative impact of AKU, which has surpassed expectations to achieve international excellence in health, education, and knowledge creation.
He announced the appointment of His Highness Prince Rahim Aga Khan V as AKU’s new Chancellor and Princess Zahra Aga Khan as Pro-Chancellor, recognizing her significant contributions to AKU’s growth, collaboration, and mission. Mahmood emphasized the continued commitment to advancing the Founder’s legacy, celebrating the new leadership and the achievements of the Class of 2024, who embody the belief that present realities do not constrain future possibilities.
