From 25th January – 27th January 2019, The Neighbourhood Studios in (Leslieville, Toronto 24 McGee Street, Toronto, ON) will host Toronto artist Romana Kassam’s FIRST solo exhibition titled masks X molds. A truly unique experience at the intersection of visual art, light and sound, this multisensory exhibition highlights the realities of the South Asian experience in Canada and the different parts of our identity that we mask in order to fit into the mold of mainstream culture.
*SPECIAL EVENT* Un-Masked Panel Discussion
January 25th 7-9
As part of visual artist, Romana Kassam’s, solo exhibition, MasksxMolds, four South Asian women reflect on their own stories and journeys on what they gave up for the sake of belonging, and their journey towards taking it back, fully. We’ll talk about representation, power, allyship, ancestry, our visions for our daughters and daughters daughters, and obviously indulge in some casual gup shup. Join us for an evening of conversation, reflection and sisterhood.
