Aleem Gillani has been elected to the board of directors of Freddie Mac early this month.
He is the son of Mithoo and Nabat Gillani of Calgary, Alberta.
Gillani, 56, is active in both industry and community organizations including the Atlanta Council of Boy Scouts of America.
He previously served as chief financial officer and corporate executive vice president of SunTrust Banks, Inc and Zoo Atlanta.
Freddie Mac makes home possible for millions of families and individuals by providing mortgages capital to lenders.
“We are pleased to welcome Aleem to our board,” said Christopher Lynch, the company’s non-executive chairman. “His insights and expertise will help the board in its mission.”
Gillani, now retired, held other senior risk management roles, including the chief risk officer for the PNC Services Group, Inc. and Bank Boston Corp.
Gillani holds a degree from York University and Southern Alberta Institute of Technology as well as Certified Management accountant (CMA) designation from the Society of Management Accountants of Canada.
He is also a graduate of the Advanced Management Program from Harvard Business School.
