Afraaz Mulji – aka Maestro Mi – is a nineteen-year-old multi-instrumentalist and composer. Born in Tanzania, currently living in Montreal, Canada. He considers himself a world citizen; an ambassador for pluralism and the cosmopolitan ethic. An improviser at heart, his music is a genre-bending exploration across myriad musical traditions. Employing techniques garnered from studies of Eastern and Western classical music, jazz and world music, he fuses these to create an intoxicating blend of jazz, soul, rock, fusion, world and contemporary classical music. Afraaz is propelled by his insatiable curiosity, verve and determination to connect with people. He successfully reshapes diverse influences to create a unique take on 21st Century music.
