Professor Shamsuddin Rahimtoola had been bestowed the Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians at Edinburgh. President of Pakistan General Zia-ul-Haq personally felicitated him on this occasion.
Dr Shamsuddin Rahimtoola was serving Professor of Medicine at the Dow Medical College Karachi and had previously remained Principal of the Medical School.
Professor Dame Sheila Sherlock known for her contribution to Liver Diseases had inititated the ‘Fellowship’ status at the Royal College for Shamsuddin Rahimtoola – an institution with which he had been associated with from the 1960s.
Rahimtoola was also serving Physician to the President, Prime Minister and visiting foreign dignitaries of Pakistan during this period.
