Faizzal Fatehali: PNE Vancouver exhibitions: How the Fair attracts spectacular shows | Vancouver SunFaizzal Fatehali travels far and wide to bring the most exciting exhibitions he can find to the PNE each year.

As the manager of exhibit space since 2013, Fatehali has been involved in luring unique and popular attractions from across the globe to keep the The Fair’s turnstiles spinning and visitors saying, “Whoa.”

If the high profile and visitor counts of this year’s exhibits are any indication, he’s doing a fine job.

Right now, the Angry Birds Universe exhibit, produced by U.S. firm Imagine Exhibitions, is drawing about 2,500 to 3,000 people per day for its North American debut.

Visitors are paying an extra $5 ($3.50 for kids 6-13, free for kids 5 and under) to spend an hour inside (on average) taking turns on the exhibit’s zip line, knocking down green pigs with massive slingshots and designing their very own Angry Birds on computers.

“A lot of exhibits don’t see that,” Fatehali said. “We’ve lowered the price point and made it more affordable for families, so we’re getting more people. It will be exposed to people who don’t necessarily have the means to go to a science centre.”
