Kawangware and Kibera, the largest slums in Kenya, have a population of over 1 million people, all of whom live well below the poverty line. Most of the children in these huge slums do not go to school due to the lack of funds and resources. A number of us, experienced Ismaili educators, stepped in to help the children.
Over the past year, together with a dedicated team, we selected 150 fromĀ the 5,000 children to educate; these children are blessed with great talents and academic abilities.
We approached the Directors of The Millennium School Ltd, and they kindly agreed to devote a new wing at the school to educate these marginalised children, who are taught by well-qualified and dedicated teachers, employed specifically for this project. In addition, we will also provide the children with uniforms and transportation to and from school.
