Aga Khan University Hospital Patient Welfare Assistance Report for 2015April 26, 2016, Karachi, Pakistan. Aga Khan University Hospital (AKUH) has released its Patient Welfare Assistance Report for 2015.

AKUH’s focus continues to be on improving the lives of the patients they serve. AKUH caregivers treat a broad range of diseases and chronic conditions and help people achieve improved health and quality of life so that they can spend more time doing the things they love.

In keeping with their commitment, over the last three decades – to do the most good for the most people – AKUH worked hard to ensure their services are accessible to everyone who needs them, including individuals whose families did not have adequate financial resources but sought access to quality healthcare at their University Hospital. Their Patient Welfare Programme helps those in need to obtain world-class care. In 2015 485,475 patients (59% higher than in 2014) received assistance through the programme which was funded primarily with University Hospital’s revenues (74%), income from Patient Welfare Endowment (12%), and the generosity of many donors (14%).

In the Patient Welfare Assistance Report for 2015, you will meet Sadaf, a cancer survivor, and Shoaib, a young child suffering from congenital heart disease. In providing them with financial aid for their treatment, the donor’s generous support helped relieve their pain, and also earned their grateful families’ prayers.
