Tour Guide – Role Description
The Tour Guide will provide a welcoming, hospitable environment and rewarding learning experience to visitors through professionally guided tours of the Ismaili Centre, Toronto. The Tour Guide will be required to attend training sessions to become familiar with the Centre, what it represents and what it has to offer. The Tour Guide must be able to clearly communicate the vision of the Ismaili Centres and the core values of Ismaili Community. A commitment of at least two shifts per month is a requirement for this position. Shifts range from 2 hours to 6 hours.
Essential Qualities:
- Aged 20 or over
- Good command of English with strong effective oral communications skills (Proficiency in French, Farsi, Dari, Gujarati and Kutchi should be highlighted in the resume)
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to establish and maintain relationships with a diverse group of volunteers and stakeholders
- Ability to work as a member of a team
- Flexibility to work varied shifts
- Friendly disposition
- Professional, courteous, respectful and neat appearance
- Ability to absorb and learn given information and present it confidently and accurately to groups
- Ability to follow instructions of the Master Trainers, Lead Tour Guides and the Core Team.
- Experience of working in community groups, charitable or service oriented organizations, preferably where the services are delivered primarily by volunteers
Tour Coordinator – Role Description
The Tour Coordinator will oversee on-site aspects of the tours and the visitors’ holding area. The Tour Coordinator will execute roles such as Welcome Greeter, manage the registration process and provide support to the Tour Guides. The Tour Coordinator will be required to attend training sessions to become familiar with the Centre, what it represents and what it has to offer. A commitment of at least two shifts per month is a requirement for this position. Shifts range from 2 hours to 6 hours.
