Sport Calgary Welcomes Two New Directors
April 21, 2015 – Sport Calgary – CALGARY, Alberta — Sport Calgary held its Annual General Meeting on Friday, April 17. Kim Koss and Nazir Walji were welcomed as new Directors at the meeting by unanimous vote of Sport Calgary’s membership. Sport Calgary is pleased to bring such distinguished and experienced voices to join the Board and help guide Calgary’s independent voice for sport.
Nazir has professional qualifications as an accountant and auditor. Nazir is currently a Senior Officer Trade Compliance for the Canada Border Services Agency, and worked for over two decades as an auditor for the Canada Customs and Revenue Agency.
Nazir brings extensive experience in both sport and business to Sport Calgary’s Board of Directors. Nazir is the Director of the Calgary Floorball Committee, which was established in May of 2014, and has
become the official governing body of the sport of Floorball in the greater Calgary region, including Airdrie, Chestermere, Cochrane, High River, Okotoks and Turner Valley. The Committee oversees regional
operations on behalf of the Alberta Floorball Association.
Nazir has also served as Manager of Officials, Track and Field at the 1997 World Police and Fire Games in Calgary, and has served as an official for the Alberta Table Tennis Association, Badminton Alberta, Alberta Luge Association, and Athletics Alberta.
