CHICAGO (WLS) — The Alzheimer’s Association is bringing their 28th annual Rita Hayworth Gala back to Chicago Saturday night.
Princess Yasmin Aga Khan, daughter of the legendary the film star, established the galas to pay tribute to her mother, Rita Hayworth, who lived with Alzheimer’s for many years before she died in 1987.
The events have raised more than $65 million in Chicago, Palm Beach and New York. This year’s theme “The best is yet to come,” which pays tribute to a life one day without the devastating effects of Alzheimer’s disease.
In Illinois. about 210,000 people are living with Alzheimer’s and more than 589,000 family members and friends provide unpaid care.
Co-chair of this year’s gala, Jim Draddy, stopped by the ABC 7 studios to show us how the money raised will help families all over the country.
