Gulshan and Pyarali G. Nanji Awarded Positive Aging Award

gulshan-pyarali-nanjiPhilanthropists Gulshan and Pyarali G. Nanji have been selected by the Ontario Gerontology Association as recipients of their Positive Aging Award, to be presented at their conference on April 21, 2015 in Toronto.

The couple, fleeing ethnic cleansing in Uganda, arrived in Canada during the 1970s with their four children. The couple has been grateful to Canada for granting them refuge and providing them with the opportunity to rebuild their lives in this country.

Pyarali, now the CEO of the GTA based Belle-Pak Packaging Inc. and his wife have made generous donations to hospitals in both Toronto and Montreal, including the Gulshan and Pyarali G. Nanji Orthopaedic and Plastics Centre and the Gulshan and Pyarali G. Nanji Ultrasound, CT and Radiography Centre at the North York General Hospital.

The 2015 Positive Aging Award, to be presented by The Honourable Minister Mario Sergio, seeks to recognize the contributions the couple has made to improve the quality of life of older adults in Ontario.

The Ontario Gerontology Association, which organizes the conference, is a charitable organization which seeks to advance the field of gerontology both in research and practice in the province of Ontario. They hold annual conferences to bring together those involved and interested in the field of geriatrics together to discuss the latest innovations in the field.
