After laying the foundation stone for Humayun’s Tomb site museum on Tuesday, culture minister Mahesh Sharma announced that the ministry has requested the Aga Khan Trust for Culture to associate with the Taj Mahal. “We have requested AKTC’s association for Taj Mahal as well, and he (Prince Karim Aga Khan IV) said we will discuss it,” said the minister.
In his response, the Aga Khan, who is in Delhi to receive the Padma Vibhushan, said, “We have learnt to be humble in front of exceptional, historic buildings and would not dare to touch the Taj Mahal. But if it is required, we would be happy to contribute.”
