Government of India Announces Visit of His Highness Prince Karim Aga Khan to India

2015, April 6: Government of India announced the visit of His Highness Prince Karim Aga Khan to India from Monday, 6th April, 2015 to Saturday, 11th April, 2015.

His Highness Prince Karim Aga Khan arrives in New Delhi on Monday, 6th April, 2015 and is expected to meet with the highest levels of Government of India leadership including the Vice President and Prime Minister on Tuesday, 7th April, 2015. Later on during the day, His Highness Prince Karim Aga Khan will be visiting Humayun’s Tomb to review the site details of the proposed museum and lay the foundation stone of the museum with the Union Tourism Minister – Dr Mahesh Sharma. The day’s activities will conclude with an evening banquet by the Government of India in honour of His Highness Prince Karim Aga Khan at Hydrabad House.

On Wednesday, 8th April, 2015 His Highness Prince Karim Aga Khan will attend the Padma Awards Ceremony where he is expected to receive the Padma Vibhushan for his contributions to India.

His Highness Prince Karim Aga Khan will also visit Agra and Hydrabad during the remainder of his visit before he concludes his trip and departs from India.

The Aga Khan Trust for Culture (AKTC) has been carrying out conservation work in the Humayun’s Tomb area for nearly 15 years. Its engagement began with the Humayun’s Tomb Garden revitalisation project, a gift to India made by His Highness the Aga Khan on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the country’s independence.

Another recent initiative undertaken by AKTC is the Qutb Shahi Heritage Park, an area spread over 108 acres with 72 monuments.
