TORONTO – Celebrating the vibrant colours of India, the Aga Khan Museum of Toronto is presenting two spectacular exhibitions that feature historic Mughal era in the subcontinent.
British artist Howard Hodgkin’s two exhibitions – Visions of Mughal India and Inspired by India – on Wednesday (Feb. 18) opened at the Aga Khan Museum in Toronto.
Visions of Mughal India features historical works from Hodgkin’s personal collection whereas Inspired by India presents powerfully expressive paintings spanning different periods in the artist’s own practice.
“Being able to display Hodgkin’s paintings along with his collection is a great honour,” said Henry Kim, CEO and director of Aga Khan Museum. “It has never been done before, and shows just how defining a force India has been in Hodgkin’s life and work.”
The exhibitions are free to the public and will remain open on Wednesdays between 4 to 8 p.m. until June 21, 2015.
