Besides the unbelievable climbing opportunities, visitors explore spectacular valleys, soak in natural hot springs, visit ruins of ancient Silk-Road fortresses, and see pre-Islamic Buddhist temples.
If grown sustain-ably (to protect the fragile mountain ecosystem) and operated inclusively, tourism can bring much needed business to the local Tajik economy: supporting cultural industries and creating jobs for local guides, vendors, & restaurants.
