As Governor of the State of Illinois, I am pleased to welcome everyone gathered for the Ismaili Studies Conference and Islamicate Studies Symposium.
Featuring over 40 scholars and students from around the world, this conference will focus on examining research and the teachings of Islam. I am certain that all attendees will leave more knowledgeable and passionate about their faith. As a result of your efforts, you have positively impacted the lives of many Muslims and provided a good example of service for other Islamic organizations to follow. It is fitting that this conference is taking place in Chicago, a city that 50 years ago changed the way Islamic civilizations were studied around the world.
– Pat Quinn, Governor, State of Illinois
