Support Alisha Karmali: Startup takes baby steps to million-dollar prize

Alisha Karmali is a student at the University of Waterloo in Ontario.

She recently gathered a team of students to enter the Hult Prize Challenge 2015 (Bill Clinton Initiative). The Challenge is on how to provide Early Childhood Education in slums around the world by the year 2020.

Alisha as a team captain and four other UWaterloo students started a company called BabySteps Academy in response to the challenge. They won the first round and will be competing against teams from all around the world in regionals in March 2015 for the $1 million prize. Their pilot city is Dhaka, Bangladesh and they are currently applying for grants and fundraising in order to travel to Dhaka in February 2015 during their reading week for research purposes.
