About Karim Farishta
Karim Farishta is a freshman at the George Washington University, studying political science and international development.
After being inspired by a TEDx Conference last year, Farishta founded and organized the Global Issues Summit in Sugar Land, Texas (link: http://www.globalissuessummit.org/). The Summit raises awareness on critical world concerns including malnutrition, discrimination, disaster relief, child soldiers, illiteracy, and refugee rights, and challenges the community to take action. He was awarded the 2013 Princeton Prize in Race Relations for advancing human rights among diverse communities. He received the Gulen Institute Youth Platform Award for promoting hospitality in the global village through effective and respectful immigration policy recommendations. Currently, he is interning for YWCA to help girls learn about human trafficking, and is serving at the American Red Cross National Headquarters to plan the first-ever Global Refugee Simulation and Conference. When passion intersects purpose, Farishta believes that meaningful global change is attainable.
