AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry has appointed Sada Cumber of Sugar Land to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board for a term to expire Aug. 31, 2015. The board sets policies and coordinates efforts to improve higher education in Texas.
Cumber is board chairman of TCMS Technologies, and principal and founder of Texas Global LLC. He is the former U.S. Ambassador to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, a founder of CACH Capital Management, co-founder of Applied Science Fiction and past chairman and CEO of Psionic Technologies Inc. He is a past member of the Texas Emerging Technology Fund Committee, Texas Economic Development Corporation, Governor’s Business Council and Task Force on Higher Education, and University of Texas College of Fine Arts Advisory Council. He is a past board member of the Foundation of Religious Studies, past chairman of the Austin Chamber of Commerce Small Business Council, a past charter member of The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) Austin Chapter, a past advisory board member of TiE Houston Chapter, past president of the Aga Khan Council for Southwest U.S.A., and a life member of the Buck Rogers National Photofinishers Group. He is also past trustee of the Photo Marketing Association International, Digital Imaging Marketing Association and Association of Photo CD.
Cumber received a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in history from the University of Karachi in Pakistan.
