Amreen Poonawala elected to executive of University of Toronto Engineering KompetitionsHi! My name is Amreen. I am an Indian-born, Indian-raised, Canada loving girl, currently in my second year of Industrial Engineering, here at the University of Toronto. I moved to Canada in 2008 and completed the IB Program at Victoria Park CI. I really enjoy computer programming and learning new languages. I like aspects of Information Technology and making the most out of the current technological resources available. I am also a part of the WISE (Women in Science and Engineering), Conference Team, the MIE Ambassadors team and SGT (Skule’s Got Talent).

This is my first year at UTEK. As an Industry Sponsorship director, my goal, this year, is to collaborate and partner with top engineering, consulting and management companies so that they can help enhance the student’s UTEK experience. Through these partnerships we hope to benefit the companies as well. Overall, we wish to showcase our bright and talented engineering participants to these highly accomplished companies that are seeking such employees in the long run.

Pet Peeves: 1. Messy Rooms 2. Asymmetry (unless it looks cool and abstract) 3. When people type on the computer and don’t correct their spelling errors (even though the computer TELLS them the correct spelling!)

Dream: To serve for the Aga Khan Development Network to improve and enhance the lifestyles of those living in the developing nations.
