Aga Khan Fund for Environment’s senior director David Boyer said they are calling it the tree growing initiative since it is not enough to put trees in the ground. The community must take care of them and can provide economic benefit to both the community and Kenya.

Over two million trees in Mount Kenya have been planted and they are targeting to plant 14 million trees by 2014.

” We are also doing school gardens for fruits and shade trees and for charcoal production. We have down over 25 school gardens last year in Coast region,” said Boyer.
