VICTORIA – Premier Christy Clark has made the following statement on the occasion of the Aga Khan’s birthday today:
“I want to congratulate His Highness the Aga Khan on his birthday.
“His Highness is best known as the spiritual leader for millions of Ismailis, but His impact in the world goes much further. The Aga Khan supports several non-profit foundations dedicated to helping those less fortunate. In Canada, the Aga Khan Partnership Walk raised over $7 million to help end global poverty this year alone.
“His Holiness has worked tirelessly to bring together peoples from different religious and ethnic backgrounds – he is one of the world’s foremost advocates for peace and understanding. The Aga Khan is a living example of the difference kindness, generosity, and tolerance can make.
“On behalf of all British Columbians, I want to join the Ismaili community in wishing His Holiness a happy birthday, and thank His Highness for all he does to make our world a better place.”
