Human life is subject to crisis. All of us go through a series of crisis in life but some are more affected. Pastoral care is an ancient way of emotional and spiritual support that can be found in all cultures and traditions. Historically, it is a ministry of care and counselling provided by pastors, chaplains and other religious leaders to members of their church or congregation, or to the people of all faiths and none with institutional settings. This service can be provided anywhere— from home visitation, hospitals, and schools to formal counselling provided by pastors.
It has been described in the Quran that followers of the faith are commanded to co-operate towards goodness: \”The believing men and believing women are Auliya (helpers, supporters, friends, protectors) of one another (9:71).\” This indicates pastoral caring can be listening, supporting, motivating and befriending.
