Salim Hasham: Senior Vice President – Global Health Services, Johns Hopkins Medicine International

Salim Hasham has just been appointed Senior Vice President – Global Health Services at Johns Hopkins Medicine International in Baltimore. His role is to provide leadership to Johns Hopkins in their strategic objective of providing the platform that extends the Johns Hopkins Medicine mission around the world. He will lead the Global Services unit, guiding the development and implementation of strategic relationships in furtherance of Johns Hopkins organizational goals.

Prior to this role, Salim served as President and CEO of Hawaii Medical Center, a two hospital system in Hawaii, USA and spent three and a half years in Honolulu.

Salim has extensive experience in international healthcare investment and development work and has consulted for international financial institutions like IFC and EBRD. His work has spanned almost thirty countries over three decades.

Salim was born in Nairobi and is a Canadian citizen. He is a receipient of the Aga Khan Foundation Scholarship. He has a summa cum laude Masters in Systems Engineering from Clemson University in USA and Master in Health Administration from the University of Ottawa where he received two award for high standing. He has been an active contributor to the Ismaili Community and served as Chair for the Aga Khan Foundation Fundraising Committee in Calgary and as Project Director for a the AKF USA sponsored technical strengthening project for Salamieh Hospital in Syria. He has also received numerous citizen diplomacy awards including medals from peace committees in Moscow, Prague and Berlin and was awarded a multicultural award from the Government of Alberta. He has been nominated in the past for the E&Y Entrepreneur of the Year Award and the Outward Bound Wardens Award.
