Ali Shaan Khemani, born in Karachi on 16th March 1984, is a film maker. The son of a Chief Accountant/Professor he majored in Commerce and completed his studies in Theatre and Television Production. The first experimental short film he directed was THE PAST and also awarded as a best short film in Youth Film Festival. This boost drove him to many other documentaries, still working as a fresh graduate for Production House, TV Channels, MNC’S and Consulates. He believes that his teachers are behind all of his success.
I publicly admit that …. credit goes to a Production House AV2 Private Limited which sponsored me to direct this documentary on “Karachi Circular Railway” than humbly thanks to ma Institute National Academy of Performing Arts (NAPA) my teachers who put such efforts in ma curriculum. My crew, Rahib, Nasir, Fizza, Zeeshan Nulwala, Faisal Shah, Jay and Anil.
Story of “The Past” actually remembered ma early childhood days when ma seniors doesn’t allow me to play cricket and most of the time i was a 12th man in our cricket team. This short film is actually a experimental realism based film. My heartedly thanks to Aga Khan School in Garden which allow us for the whole and shoot, Ma mum for making such a delicious food, to all the kids of DARKAHANA JUNIOR LEAGUE. This was ma 1st ever film when i was in ma early stage of film school.
LAST but not the LEAST the team of Youth Film Festival, the way they organized this event, Aga Khan Youth & Sports board for Pakistan for such a creative IDEA.
Hats Off !!
