Linda McCain, Chair of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Centre for Diversity (CCD), today announced the appointment of Zahir Janmohamed as the CCD’s next Chief Executive Officer, effective December 8, 2010. Janmohamed succeeds Amanda Sherrington,who is retiring after almost 10 years at the helm of the organization.
“I am delighted to welcome Zahir to the Canadian Centre for Diversity,” said McCain. “The demand for our services and programs is growing steadily across the country and he is very well-suited to manage this growth and lead us in our future development. Zahir brings a wealth of business and community experience and knowledge to his new position.”
Janmohamed has enjoyed a 30-year career in senior human resources management and leadership roles. He has held key positions with the Mount Pleasant Group, Clearnet Communications, a number of Ministries in the Ontario government, the Aga Khan University and Hospital in Karachi, and CIBC.
Janmohamed is active in the community and has a record of accomplishment in both fundraising and governance. He is currently the Vice Chair of York University’s Board of Governors, and sits on the Board of Governors for North York General Hospital. He was formerly on the board of the Hincks Dellcrest Centre and also served as President of the Aga Khan Council for Ontario.
