Salma Bhaloo: A Woman of Passion and Charity

By: Serena Mawani

Salma Bhaloo is the Assistant Director of Income Tax Audit at the Vancouver Tax Services Office with the Canada Revenue Agency. As an immigrant to Canada, Salma moved to Vancouver in 1975, a big change from her birthplace of Kenya. However, Salma took the challenge in stride as she graduated with honours from high school and was accepted to the University of British Columbia where she completed her Bachelor of Commerce degree. She then went on to earn her CGA. In this interview, The Cavalier chats with Salma about her UBC experience, her job and her secrets to success.

Can you describe your experience as a BCOM student at the University of British Columbia?

My experience in UBC Commerce was very memorable. I love the UBC campus as it allows a special student lifestyle that includes students who do not live in residence.
