A bus rider’s nostalgia, by Vali Jamal, Vancouver Sun

Re: On the buses, Sept. 20

I was quite moved, reading about the lives of bus drivers in Vancouver. Drivers like Angus McIntyre were gems, loving their jobs and their passengers. I may even have ridden with him on Route 50 from False Creek when I used to accompany my parents to town after 1977, as recent refugees from Idi Amin’s Uganda. The driver knew my parents’ habits; if they were late coming to the stop, he’d even wait. I still take that bus to town
