Shanifa Nasser is organizing an online awareness and fundraising campaign in support of the Focus Humanitarian Assistance emergency-relief effort for the flood victims of Pakistan. FOCUS is supplying tents, tarpaulins, water, hygiene kits and blankets, as well as basic healthcare services, to the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwah, Gilgit Balistan, Sindh and Punjab regions.
Most recently, the Canadian Government recently announced that it will be matching funds made to registered charities in Canada until September 12th. Shanifa has launched an urgent appeal to encourage individuals to donate before September 12th in order to maximize the amount of funds generated for the flood victims.

My wife and I wanted to donate for the Pakistan flood relief to one of our community organizations. Could not find any here in Toronto, that was collecting funds for the flood relief. Ultimately after enquiring for some time found Focus on the web which acepted donations for humanitarian crisis all over the world and so we sent our little donation to their Canadian office. Congratulations to Shafina Nasser for organising the fund raiser specifically for Pakistan fllood relief. I wonder if people who do not subscribe to “Ismaili Mail” would come to know of this effort.
I truly commend Shafina for her initiative and effort. It is sad that Focus hasn’t found a way to accept on-line donations in this very on-line world! It is time that Focus has a dedicated Web site to cover this tragedy as well as to collect funds like other reputable agencies such as the Red Cross.
Please note that above is a Focus approved website. Donations collected through above mentioned website will go to Focus Humanitarian. They do have online presence through Canadahelps.org partnership.
Please make a note of this information:
Government of Canada is still matching funds (until Oct 3), donate to double your contribution.
