Calgary Eye Surgery Facility Set for Explosive Growth
CALGARY, April 6 /CNW/ – Following a recent decision by Alberta Health Services to award 70 per cent of Calgary’s non-hospital ophthalmologic surgical services to Surgical Centres Inc. (SCI), the respected facility has already begun its expansion plans. SCI will now offer surgical procedures to patients of 19 local ophthalmologists, up from nine surgeons previously. To accommodate the increase in annual procedures from 2,500 to more than 6,000, SCI currently has five operating theatres available, with a plan to open a newly consolidated state-of-the-art multi-theatre facility within a few weeks.
“We are very proud to be given this recognition and are extremely well positioned to meet the needs of Calgarians requiring eye surgery,” said Dr. Mohamed Nanji, SCI Medical Director. “The good news is that this consolidation of services will allow more people to get procedures they need, while also reducing wait times.”
