Ashbury College fights global poverty

Ashbury College fights global povertyEMC Events – Last Sunday, fundraisers congregated at Major’s Hill Park to help communities thousands of kilometers away.

Since 1985 the World Partnership Walk (WPW) has raised over $50 million to fight poverty around the world. This year students from Ashbury College have joined the fight.

Audrey McRobie a 17-year-old in Grade 11, and Adil Abdulla a 16-year-old in Grade 10 have taken a leadership role at the college and helped raise thousands of dollars.

“I walk in the World Partnership Walk because I truly believe in the cause,” said Audrey McRobie a 17-year -old in Grade 11 at Ashbury College. “I’m impressed by the fact that the funds raised go 100% to communities across Asia and Africa, without a cent towards administration of the walk. Also, the funds go to impoverished communities regardless of their religion or race.”
