And about 3,000 people walked five kilometers together in Prince’s Island Park to fight global poverty in developing nations.

The $900,000 raised at the 26th annual World Partnership Walk in Calgary will be used to fight hunger and poverty with projects focusing on health education and social development.

The walk is held in nine cities across Canada and Calgary’s edition is considered one of the top fundraisers nationwide.
