Professor Hanif Ladak’s spin-off company wins top prize

Western spin-off company ENT Simulation Technologies Inc. has capitalized on its 3-D models for disease diagnosis by winning the top prize for best proposed business in the Venture London Business Competition.

Founded by associate professor Hanif Ladak (Department of Medical Biophysics, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Otolaryngology) and Otolaryngology professor Sumit Agrawal, the company hopes to offer medical students and residents the ability to practice disease diagnosis and surgery using a virtual, 3-D anatomical model with realistic graphics and touch feedback.

Profile: Hanif M. Ladak received his B.A.Sc. degree from the University of Toronto in 1991 and his M.Eng. degree from McGill University in 1994, both in Electrical Engineering. He received his Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Engineering from McGill University in 1998.
