A group of quick-thinking Canadian teens have ended the country’s 22-year drought on the international debating stage by winning gold at the world schools championships in Doha, Qatar.
The nine-member squad — which includes three students from Vancouver’s West Point Grey Academy, including captain Iqbal Kassam, 17, Jonathan Carson, 18, and Sophie Bird, 16 — cinched the victory Thursday in an 8-3 decision over England in the finals.
