I started painting in 2003. I began by imitating great works and trying to emulate the styles of great artists.
In 2005, I moved to Denmark where I had the opportunity to actually see the works of great artists – some of whom I already loved and others’ whom I grew to appreciate.
In 2006, I entered dental school. Studying the human form, including dissecting cadavers in anatomy, gave me a new perspective that I found incredibly helpful in my artistic study of the human body. Meanwhile, contact with poverty and people in pain and with illness also increased my interest in the disadvantaged and emotional trauma.
