MP Receives CGA-Canada’s John Leslie Award
Vancouver— October 27, 2009 — The Certified General Accountants Association of Canada (CGA-Canada) is pleased to announce that Yasmin Ratansi, FCGA, is the John Leslie Award recipient for 2009.
Ms. Ratansi, Liberal member of Parliament for the Toronto riding of Don Valley East, earned her CGA designation in 1983, became a CGA-Canada Fellow in 2007 and was named one of the 100 CGAs Who Have Made a Difference in 2008, in honour of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the CGA designation.
First elected to the House of Commons in 2004, Ms. Ratansi was re-elected in 2006 and 2008. She is the Liberal party’s chair of the standing committee on government operations and estimates. Prior to this she was revenue critic, and chair of the standing committee on the status of women.
