InsideToronto Article: Muslims asked to donate to food drive during Ramadan

The food bank serves more than 2,000 adults and children of many faiths and backgrounds each month.

Earlier this year, it was forced to shut down due to the redevelopment of Flemingdon Plaza.

Multi-faith groups, including the Islamic Society of Toronto and Ismaili Muslim, Presbyterian, Anglican and United Church communities banded together to secure a new location.

The new home is in the Flemingdon Health Centre at 10 Gateway Blvd.

Ramadan is a special time of the year for Muslims to donate to the food bank, said Karim Sunderji, president of the Ismaili Muslim Council for Ontario.

“This food drive speaks to the social conscience of Islam, caring and showing generosity towards those in need,” he said.
